Ramblers Holidays Group (RHG) Ltd is a leading provider of walking holidays under the brand Ramble Worldwide. We operate holidays globally and have a turnover of around £15m.  As well as providing quality experiences for travellers, the company’s mission includes making financial grants to charities and not-for-profit organisations related to walking.  

The original company incorporated in 1947 as Ramblers Association Services Ltd became RHG Ltd in 2011.  The company is no longer formally associated with the UK charity Ramblers but works closely with its own charitable foundation, Ramble Worldwide Outdoor Trust.

Having re-branded our tour operations as Ramble Worldwide eighteen months ago, and the growth opportunities available to Ramble Worldwide, the Managing Director is leading RHG Ltd’s organisational transformation to achieve a scalable, modern business that capitalises on a real competitive advantage.

In advance of two directors standing down from the Board next year by rotation, we are looking for two passionate and committed individuals to join the board as non-executive directors (NED).  A personal commitment to our mission is essential, as our values shape our business.  

The NED role offers modest remuneration and provides reasonable travel expenses incurred whilst on RHG Ltd business will be reimbursed. 

The role of each NED is to:

• Bring an external, independent oversight and constructive challenge to the Executive Directors.  
• Provide a creative and informed contribution to strategy formation and to act as a constructive critic in looking at the objectives and plans devised by the managing director and the executive team.
• Be responsible for monitoring the performance of executive management, especially with regard to the progress made towards achieving the determined strategy and objectives.
• Satisfy themselves on the integrity of financial information and that financial controls and systems of risk management are robust and defensible.

What experience will you bring?

• You will have had a Board or senior leadership role and can demonstrate an ability to provide oversight, support and challenge.
• You will have relevant professional experience applicable to a company of this size. 
• You will have (or be prepared to acquire) appropriate understanding of strategy and governance expectations for a regulated commercial travel firm.
• Candidates must adhere to the UK Corporate Governance Code standards for Directors and be fit and proper under the ABTA/ATOL regime.
• We welcome applications from any business background and we are particularly looking to extend the Board’s skill set in the areas of:
  1. Change management
  2. IT & data
  3. Sourcing clients from international travel markets
• Knowledge of the leisure travel and/or walking holidays sector would be advantageous and essential for those applicants with a background in sourcing clients from international travel markets.
