At Ramblers Walking Holidays, we are in the privileged position of being able to use our profits to make a difference to the lives of the less advantaged people in the countries we explore.
One of the ways we give back is through our Heart & Sole scheme, this is run directly by our office staff and offers direct financial aid and support to projects and charities in the UK and overseas, including schools, orphanages, hospices and environmental projects. Giving back to local communities is an important part of who we are, and we are very proud to be able to make a difference.
We have continued with our support of some of our original projects such as Royal Drakensberg Primary School, SPANA, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue, Digswell Riding School for the Disabled, SOS Children’s Villages, the Breakfast Club at Monchy Primary School in St Lucia and Bero Kakar school in Rajasthan, India. Leaders are continuing to get involved and spread the word (well done!) when leading groups and group members often visit some of the projects when they travel with us.
At the end of last year we started a joint venture with Water-to-Go which not only offered discounts to clients when buying the water bottles and filters but they also made a donation to Heart & Sole with every bottle sold. We have received over £600 from Water-to-Go, which is great!
We have added new projects this year, Project Dignity in South Africa, Karatu Orphanage in Tanzania, where Adrian Flatt organised the collection and delivery of 21kg of Lego and Duplo on his visit in January, Naxos Animal Welfare, Greece and with our agents help in Costa Rica, we will be delivering donated items with our November group, plus buying supplies locally for two foster homes in the capital city of San Jose.
The Heart & Sole web page is continually updated with our new projects and photos, so please make sure you take a look to see how your money is helping the communities you see on your journeys with Ramblers Walking Holidays.
