My passion for travel was born from a change in my sense of adventure as I got older. I used to be all about high adrenaline climbing, kayaking etc but now the destination is the adventure for me. In my free time I enjoy off road driving, tinkering with vintage cars and Scouting. Scouting is a passion similar to my work. I know these wonderful skills, things to do and see that I am excited about and want to show other people.
I worked for three years as an activity instructor for the Scout Association using outdoor activities to enhance a young person’s self-belief, confidence and teamwork skills at their headquarters in Gilwell Park. Since then, I have spent the last 15 year at Ramble Worldwide. Most of my travels have been within Europe, and I have particular interest in big mountains from the Pyrenees through to the Alpes.
In 2018, shortly after the earthquakes I took part in a two-week trip to Nepal, seeing all the main wonders. Kathmandu, the Everest and Annapurna ranges, Chitwan jungle, and so much more. It was just so different to what I was used to working in Europe. We were due to fly by helicopter from Kathmandu to the Everest View Hotel, the highest hotel in the world.
However, the weather enclosed, and we could not make the landing, instead to my delight we landed into the Lukla, the gateway to Everest and well known as being the world’s most dangerous airport.
NNAS Bronze Navigator Award, working on gaining Silver, and keeping a log book towards my ML Summer. I also have completed CWA Climbing awards, powerboat level 2, British Canoe Union Coach Level 2, and SPA Training.
Steeped in history and romance, France is the perfect destination to explore on foot. Float into Monet’s watercolours along the Loire Valley, sip a velvety espresso in a courtyard cafe, then, walk along mediaeval city walls in ‘bastide’ seaside villages. Trek to Cistercian abbeys in Provence surrounded by thick groves of vivid lavender, or, browse the local markets and patisseries in quaint Provincial squares.
View DestinationThe incredible volcanic landscape in the Canary Islands means venturing on walking holidays here is like discovering another planet. The beautiful national parks, along with dramatic mountains and valleys provide the perfect setting for a hike. Garajonay’s laurel forests are a must-see, and Tenerife’s Teide National Park provides peaks that reach high above the fluffy clouds, with views guaranteed to take your breath away.
