On Wednesdays, when the kitchen is closed, guests can dine at nearby pubs and cafés in Buttermere village.

    Buttermere village is around 2 miles away and has two pubs and a café. Hassness House is accessible by train to Penrith, bus to Keswick, then by bus or taxi (note: public bus doesn’t serve the property from November to Easter). We offer transfers from Penrith Railway Station to Hassness House. The nearest fuel stations are in Keswick or Cockermouth; there are no EV charging docks on site.
