Staying in a hotel 100 yards from the seafront, this is a great holiday taking in country views, lovely walking and historic towns.

We Nordic walk in Whinlatter Forest with a chance to spot red squirrels. Walking shoes or trainers are better than boots for Nordic walking, we've found. The beautiful backdrop includes Buttermere, Crummock Water and Derwentwater, all featuring in our week.
The advantage of rainy weather (which occurs quite frequently in the Lake District!) is that all the waterfalls come alive. We get a different perspective of the fells round Derwentwater when we go kayaking. The landscape offers constant variety - each lake with its own character.
Between activities, the home-made ice cream at Syke Farm café is not to be missed - although do bear in mind that you're only half an hour away from Hassness House where home-made cake is likely to be waiting for you! I'm not a beer drinker, but I gather that some of the local brews are worth sampling.
A repeat client this year had made the decision to leave her partner after her holiday last year. These weeks create space for reflection and support between women. The combination of activities and the all-women environment allows for both challenge and comfort.
What continues to amaze me is how this format works. The activities themselves - walking, swimming, kayaking, yoga, fitness sessions - are wonderful, but it's the dynamic of the group that makes it special.

Part three: The view from Rannerdale Knotts
A multi-activity, female only week with introductions to hill walking, Nordic walking and perhaps some aerobics and circuit training, as well as some gentle yoga and Pilates sessions and a morning on the lake kayaking.
