After some time to relax and recuperate from your journey we will take the scenic drive to Arporador, one of Rio de Janeiro's most iconic spots to watch the sunset. From the famous rock formation, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Ipanema, Leblon, and the Dois Irmãos mountains as the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean—a truly unforgettable Rio experience.

After sunset, take a pleasant walk along the beachfront to the legendary Garota de Ipanema restaurant, located in the heart of Ipanema. Corcovado Mountain : Christ the Redeemer

After we arrive we will take a walking tour discovering the history of Paraty on a fascinating private half day walking tour. Your local guide will take you back to a bygone era with stories of the Portuguese discovery of Brazil and the development of Paraty through the sugar, gold and coffee economic booms. This tour takes us into the beautiful National Forest of Serra da Bocaina. Our first stop will be at Pedra Branca waterfall, one of the prettiest waterfalls in the region and a great place to spot many species of birds and see the plants and trees typical of the Atlantic Forest. After this we’ll drive to the Tobogã waterfall. For those daring enough to try, it’s possible to slide all the way down the waterfall as it is formed by 30 meters of smooth rock. Next we’ll visit a Cachaça Destillery to learn about the production of Brazil’s most famous spirit, before heading for lunch at a picturesque restaurant on the Perequê River. Here there will be a bit of time to enjoy the natural pools, before we head back to Paraty.

Paraty to Foz do Iguacu

We will cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge with its lovely view of the Iguassu Canyon heading towards the Iguaçu National Park in Argentina. At the entrance, a small train takes visitors on a tour through the park, making 2 stops: upper and lower circuit. Follow the walkways to the top of the waterfalls that provide spectacularly unique views of the ‘Cataratas’, amidst the abundant nature filled with orchids, colorful birds and other wildlife. The highlight of the trip is a visit to the suspended platform at the very brink of the Devil’s Throat – largest of the waterfalls.

Fos do Iguacu - Brazilian Side

En route to the falls, we will drive through the lush, subtropical vegetation of the park. After arrival, we will take a descending trail of the canyon, from where we can enjoy panoramic views of more than 240 falls. We will board a glass elevator, which takes us to a platform where more exquisite views will be revealed. Along with its “sister” park in Argentina, The Iguassu National Park forms the most significant remaining rainforest in the southern cone of South America, which along with the waterfalls have been declared a National Heritage Site by UNESCO.

After some free time in the afternoon we will be hosted by renowned chef Fabio Del Antonio, this immersive dining experience explores the rich history and evolution of Brazilian cuisine. Through a thoughtfully curated six-course menu, guests will discover the ingredients, techniques, and cultural influences that have shaped Brazil’s most iconic dishes over the centuries.

Blending storytelling with exceptional gastronomy, the experience offers a unique insight into Brazil’s heritage, featuring interpretations of regional favourites such as moqueca, feijoada, and pato ao tucupi in an intimate and welcoming setting.

Visit the Historic Centre of Salvador, the renowned Pelourinho, the largest assemblage of colonial building in Latin America and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Strolling the cobbled stone streets of the colonial district, flanked by houses in pastel shades, we visit the exuberant São Francisco Church, most ornate Baroque church in Brazil, and on a larger scale, the nearby imposing Cathedral where we see the progression of the
tropical Baroque from its first tendencies to the refinement of the Rococo. We continue to the Municipal Square towering above the Lower City offering wonderful views of the All Saints bay. Return to the hotel on foot accompanied by your guide. Church entrance fees included.


Bahia is without doubt the percussive heart of Brazil. It is filled with a myriad of African-influenced beats and rhythms that have attracted many international musicians to these shores, including Paul Simon, Michael Jackson and Wayne Shorter.

We’ll have the opportunity to visit the percussion instrument maker’s workshop and learn the names of the instruments that are as wondrous as their sounds.


In the evening wewill see a show from the  Bahia Folklore Company (Balé Folclórico da Bahia) is one of the most respected folklore dance troupes in the world. The company performs in the intimate Miguel Santana Theatre in the Pelourinho area, putting on a stunning presentation of the multiple African traditions that heavily influence the Bahian culture. 


All of this along with an intimate dinner at Cuco Bistro, a restaurant that takes all of its inspiration from Northeast Brazilian culture and folklore.
 

Day 13

Salvador City Tour

The Lower City tour offers visitors to Salvador another perspective of this sprawling city, taking us to the quiet waters of the Itapagipe Peninsula where life moves at a slower pace than the bustling upper city. Here we’ll be able to see fishermen fishing from their canoes, locals collecting shellfish at low tide, schooners moored up and gently rocking with the waves, and the famous Bonfim church. This is one of the most important churches for religious pilgrimage in Brazil, deeply influenced by Candomblé beliefs. From here we continue to the Monserrat district to enjoy a panoramic view of the city, and then on to the Mercado Modelo: a thriving market for local goods and souvenirs. This is a great place to test out your bargaining talents! 


In the eveving we will visit Amado, a highly regarded restaurant run by head chef and owner Edinho Engel, showcasing the Brazilian “soul” in a contemporary menu elaborated with the highest quality ingredients including regional products. Its attractive space, a cube-like interior composed of dark Brazilian hard wood, masses of tropical vegetation inside and outside and one enormous window looking out on to the sparkling sea is where you always find a smart, elegant and sophisticated crowd.

This beach extension offers a relaxing four-day stay in Praia do Forte, one of Bahia’s most attractive coastal villages. On arrival, you will be transferred from your hotel in Salvador to Praia do Forte in a private air-conditioned vehicle, a journey of approximately one hour. Once settled, the remainder of your stay is at leisure, giving you the freedom to enjoy the beautiful beaches, charming village atmosphere, local restaurants, and laid-back coastal ambience.

During your free time, you may wish to visit the renowned TAMAR Project (entrance not included), an important sea turtle conservation centre where visitors can learn about Brazil’s marine wildlife and ongoing environmental protection efforts.
