Walking Holidays in Scotland

Our Scottish Walking Holidays

Our walking holidays in Scotland take you to some of Britain's most spectacular landscapes — from the rugged peaks of Ben Nevis to the wild coastlines of Orkney. Travel with a small group of like-minded walkers and you'll find yourself among fellow adventurers who arrive as strangers and leave as friends — united by a shared love of the outdoors and some of the most spectacular scenery on earth.

Come with us through beautiful wildernesses where ancient history meets breathtaking scenery, from gentle coastal paths to challenging mountain trails. We'll lead you to panoramic Highland views, atmospheric island walks, and trails through UNESCO World Heritage Sites — including the extraordinary archaeology of Orkney, where Neolithic relics like the Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae tell stories that stretch back over 5,000 years. Our expert guides will bring these ancient landscapes to life around you, and as the miles pass and the scenery unfolds, you'll find that the connections made on the trail — with the landscape, its stories, and the people you've walked alongside — are what you'll carry home long after the trip is over.

What makes our walking holidays in Scotland special?

Our Scotland walking holidays benefit from over 75 years of walking tour expertise, setting us apart as the UK's leading walking holiday specialist. We've developed deep relationships with outstanding accommodation providers across Scotland, refined our routes to showcase the finest landscapes, and trained leaders who bring Scotland's stories alive with their knowledge and passion.

Expert Leadership

Every guided tour features carefully selected, highly trained walk leaders who know Scotland's terrain intimately. From understanding Highland weather patterns to identifying golden eagles soaring overhead, our 250 expert leaders provide a wealth of local knowledge about history, culture, and the natural world.

Small group experience

We believe exploring Scotland in a small group creates the most rewarding holiday experience. Our groups typically consist of around 12-14 walkers, striking the perfect balance between sociable camaraderie and personal attention.

Flexible walking options

Whether you prefer the camaraderie and expertise of guided group walking or the independence of self-guided exploration, we cater to your style. Our four Collections, Classic, Adagio, Discover, and Self-Guided, offer varying approaches, from challenging mountain treks to leisurely cultural explorations.

When to book a walking holiday in Scotland?

Scotland's famously changeable weather creates walking opportunities throughout the year, each season offering distinct advantages. Spring (April-May) brings longer days and emerging wildflowers, whilst summer (June-August) offers the longest daylight hours and warmest weather, perfect for exploring Scotland's mountains and islands.

Autumn (September-October) paints the landscape in spectacular colours, with heather-clad hills turning purple and woodland walks becoming golden tunnels. The weather often remains mild, and you'll find quieter trails with fewer visitors. Winter walking in Scotland requires experience and proper equipment but rewards hardy walkers with snow-capped mountain vistas and crisp, clear days.

Most of our Scotland walking tours operate between March and October, when conditions suit the widest range of abilities. However, whichever dates you choose, pack for all weather conditions; Scottish weather is renowned for presenting four seasons in a single day!
