The Orkney Islands have something for everyone. There's fascinating history, World Heritage archaeological sites and beautiful scenery. Discover ancient historical sites, wildlife and remote British walking. Here in the far north of the British Isles, expect long hours of daylight to enjoy the beautiful views. Shetland, 150 miles northeast of the UK mainland, is a beautiful place for a walking holiday. The Shetland Islands offer some of Scotland's most dramatic scenery, including wild beaches, soaring sea cliffs and rolling moors.
As we explore the islands on foot, we'll have plenty of company with some of Britain's most charismatic wildlife. Enjoy fascinating scenery, deserted beaches and warm hospitality. Visit the most southerly point on the mainland and walk to Sumburgh Head for close encounters with puffins. Take the ferry to Yell and Unst – as far north as you can go in Shetland.
Imagine the view from the cliffs overlooking the sea to the Mull of Kintyre. This is a remote and wonderful place. The beauty of Northern Ireland’s countryside is impressive and there is a lot to explore. We’re within easy reach of the iconic hexagonal basalt pillars of the Giant’s Causeway, Dunluce Castle perched on rocks above the sea and the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, originally built hundreds of years ago by salmon fishermen.
